A field guide to choosing well at home
Homefinds Field Notes is an independent editorial and advisory studio based in Brisbane.
A useful home, not a perfect image
Our mission is to help people make home-product decisions that fit real rooms, real habits and a considered budget. We write for curious householders, students, practitioners and small organisations.
The studio sits between product research and interior thinking. We care about the appearance of a room, but we judge a recommendation by how clearly it supports daily life.
Research begins with context
We start with dimensions, routines, existing pieces and the constraints that cannot be edited out. Product claims are then read alongside construction details, care guidance and retailer terms.
When evidence is incomplete, we say so. Our role is to organise what can be verified, identify the decision that matters and avoid turning taste into a false universal rule.
Recommendations meet ordinary use
A promising object is considered through touch, movement, cleaning, storage, repair and ageing. Where direct handling is not possible, we distinguish documented information from editorial judgement.
We revisit the logic of a shortlist before it becomes a recommendation. The final test is simple: can a reader understand why an option fits, what it compromises and what to confirm next?
